It's not like the 9600 Pro is a dismal performer, not by any means. Some people think the 9500 Pro's superiority is more cut and dried than it really is. The 9500 Pro has several advantages, and thus, has increased performance in certain situations. But, given the higher clocks, the 9600 Pro excels in certain (albeit fewer) situations.
I have a 9600 Pro, and it serves me well. 9600Ps are cheaper and easier to find than 9500Pros too, for that matter.
