Question just to make sure I'm safe before I spend money, but I think I am. I'm looking to get a Radeon 9600 Pro for my motherboard, which is a Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra Black with Athlon XP 2600 and 512 megs of DDR 3200 (having to run as 2700). The motherboard supports 8x AGP, there should be no problems, correct?

Also, I was looking to get on of the Sapphire Radeon 9600s, but there are numerous versions of it aside from the XT and SE, which one would you recommend? If you have a preference other than Sapphire, I'm open to suggestion as well, I've just heard Sapphire is good.

4x or 8X wouldn't make a difference. As long as it's not 2X or less it'll be fine.

As for the Sapphires, the FireBlade Editions are their best. The Regular Atlantis versions have differing memory from card to card.

My preferences for an R9600PRO would be; BuiltByATI, Hercules, Gigabyte.

For the R9600XT; Asus, HIS.

Sapphire's not bad,it's pretty much Vanilla when it's a plain atlantis, any Fireblade would be among the very best examples of whatever model you were considering.

That's just my two frames' worth.
