Radeon 9600XT 256MB vs. Radeon 9800 Pro

Ok. So the next thing I'm gunna get after my mp3 player is a new video card. And I was gunna buy a Radeon 9600XT 256MB, but then I realized that a Radeon 9800 Pro which has 128MB is only 20 dollars more. Now um, this is making it a hard decision. Which one would be better? I know the 9800XT has better graphics than the 9600XT, but does the 9800 Pro?

LOL this is not a hard decision, the 9800pro would kick the crap out of the 9600XT in every single test at every single image quality, resolution.

Of course the 9800 Pro outperforms the 9600XT. Heck, even the 9600XT 128MB card occasionally outperforms the 9600XT 256MB.

9800 pro all the way; no contest. Just make sure the 9800 Pro has 256-bit memory interface as the 128-bit Saphires probably won't outperform the 9600XT by much if any.

And note that he isn't saying get the 9800pro 256 which performs little (if any better than the "regular" 9800 pro (128) and costs $100+ more. He is talking about something different...a lesser version of the "9800pro" card put out to confuse people and rip them off.

If you buy the HIS or another reputible brand of 9800 pro you won't have to worry about it.

Just purchased a 9600 Pro for my backup machine and I am not impressed compared to my 9800 Pro on my main machine. It is considerably slower and benchmarks about 1200 points lower too.

Go for the 9800 Pro is is a fine video card!

Like others have said make sure you get a 256bit model as a 128bit 9800 Pro would be nothing but a 9500...hehe
