My buddy and I play online games. Quake 3 mostly. On my advice, my buddy bought a Radeon 9700 Pro. Taking my own advice, I bought a Radeon 9500 Pro. We are both experiencing issues with chopped off screens on the Quake 3 menu. We have the latest ATI drivers. Any suggestions how to fix this?
I also play Battlefield 1942. With my old GeForce2, I was playing at the lowest resolution settings, and it was still pretty choppy. With the Radeon 9500 Pro, it ain't much better. I'm playing at 1024, but it is very choppy still. I may step down to 800, but I've read that someone has been playing BF 1942 at full resolution with a Radeon 8500? My system is the following:
Pentium 4 2.3 GHz, 533 FSB
Asus P4B533E
512 MB PC 2100 RAM
2-80GB HDD set up in a RAID 0
Why can't I play BF 1942 at a "decent" resolution?
Needless to say, I've been disapointed with the Radeon card.
