radeon 9800 problem

I just got a sapphire radeon 9800 off of newegg. I popped the card in and hooked it up into the power supply and stuff - then installed the drivers off the cd. Then I tried playing quake 3, jedi knight 2, counter-strike, and battlefield 1942. I noticed that it would glitch about once a minute or so when I was playing these games - with fuzzy lines going across the screen. Anyone have any idea what the problem might be? i tried getting new catalyst drivers and that didn't solve the problem.

What were u running b4 and did u properly clean out previous drivers if u had an Nvidia card?

Is vsync disabled? If it is, those fuzzy lines could be "tears" that occur when a game's framerate goes higher than the refresh rate of the monitor (ie 150fps when the monitor is doing 60hZ would cause bad tearing). Go to the settings and turn on vsync, which "limits" the framerate to the refresh rate speed.
