Hi,
Just got a Pulse 6700 XT. Using AMD Adrenaline app. I only run games at 60fps, (monitor is 60fps) so I thought I would utilise the Radeon Chill setting, which allows you to set min/max fps.

However if I set the Radeon Chill slider to max to 60 fps, the game will run at anything between 48/55 fps. Tried moving the slider up to 90fps, but still the game wasnt reaching 60fps. Its not until I put the slider to 120 fps that the game then stays at constant 60fps.

Is this normal for Radeon Chill. I though that setting the max fps to 60fps would mean the game would run at that speed. I have tried a couple of different games, same result.
EDIT.. I have just read that Radeon Chill it says - During intense motion, Radeon Chill will run your FPS up to a defined FPS cap, while in instances where there’s no motion on the screen, the FPS will lower automatically to save power consumption.
Perhaps that is why it is not reaching 60FPS, though doesnt explain why it will reach 60 when set to 120 on the slider?

Ref fan curve.
What is the maximum RPM of the fans?
I decided to try Custom fan curve, as when it was on default the temps were getting quite high before fans were kicking in on faster rpm. I have set a custom fan curve, but when monitoring GPU temps in some games it jumps from 62 to 65, then down to 60, then 64, 62 etc.. changing every second or so. I noticed when viewing vids on the 6700XT that their temp hardly fluctuates. However I checked on some of my games and it does stay roughly the same, for example Far Cry 6 it hovers around 55/56/57. Fan RPM at those temps is 1600/1650. Is that normal.

My last GPU was GTX 1660 SUPER which I just plugged in and forgot about. Perhaps I am being a bit paranoid about temps etc, the fan curve I have is fairly subdued - with following settings
P1 FAN SPEED 15 TEMP 30, P2 FAN 22 TEMP 45, P3 FAN 33 TEMP 70, P4 FAN 50 TEMP 90, P5 FAN 100 TEM 95.
Occasionally GPU temp will go into 70's/occasionally 80's with 2000/2300 RPM.(approx)
I have viewed some fan curves online that are much more aggressive, i.e. 50 percent fan at 70 degrees etc. and up to 100 percent at 85 degrees.

And any other Adrenaline tweaks worth knowing about? I dont want to undervolt or overclock my card, but any other useful info on Adrenaline is appreciated.

Just wanted to check I am doing things correctly,
Thanks

Radeon chill just sets targets, it doesn't force the minimum or max. I normally have mine on 142 as max and 140 as minimum but it hardly ever gets that in games. It can depend on the game.

being stuck below 60 until you raise limit to 120... makes me wonder if it just has some restriction not letting it run at max, it uses the numbers as a range of ideal targets. Once you raise it, it can go above it maybe.

I assume you have newest drivers.

What is the maximum RPM of the fans?
over 3000rpm

I use Afterburner to control the fans on my 7900xt, so I can't really comment on Adrenalin. I have mine set so fans always running,
Max temp I get in cinebench 24 on GPU is 55C

My fan curve.

those temps aren't that bad - link

What are rest of specs of the PC?

My fan curve is not as aggressive as some, but on playing far cry 6 yesterday and monitoring temps/fan speed, it was hovering aroumd mid 60's, with fan speed 1500/1800 if I remember correctly.

CPU - 5600X was around 65 degrees.

PC Specs - 5600X CPU, 6700XT GPU, 2 X SSD, 1 X HDD, 16GB RAM, 650W PSU, 4 FANS (3 X INTAKE FANS, 1 X EXHAUST).

The case has a solid front (If that is the correct terminology). All 3 intake fans are down the front, though the bottom one is partially blocked by hdd, and a casing where the PSU is enclosed.

I did raise the fan curve in BIOS for the CPU and case fans (only slightly) as any fan controller I tried didnt recognise most of the fans, so I had to go through BIOS.
I was using a gigabyte fan controller, but for some reason it stopped working and when I tried downloading/re-installing it would install. (Checked google and it is a known problem, hence I went via BIOS just to tweak them a bit, because I knew the 6700xt would chuck out more heat, so case fan tweak would help).

My case is KOLINK Stronghold. As you can see from images the shroud obscures quite a bit of the lower intake fan.

Mobo is Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite AX V2
CPU Cooler is Be Quiet Pure Rock 2

I tried Fan Control, and some other similar apps, but they dont find my case fans, sometimes not even the CPU fan. Fan control only recognised my GPU fan.

However, as a bit of a coincidence, I have just found - Argus Monitor, there is a free download with 30 day trial. This one does show my CPU and case fans.
It lists the fans shown below. Only 3 out of my 4 case fans showing however, so I am not sure if one of them is the exhaust fan or not.?
I suppose the only way is to manually change the fan speed rpm and check which fan goes faster/slower.

It costs 27 Euro after the 30 day free trial expires.

I may go onto another of Toms forums to discuss the fans etc. As this is Graphics card section we are in

I have similar results with Radeon chill. I set the minimum value to 48, the maximum value to 75. The Game ( mostly Warframe lately ) stays above fifty frames per second most of the time and drops to thirty during cutscenes. I use an RX 580 2048sp.the monitor is full HD 60 htz
