Radeon Gpu for Sketchup/Vray/Cad/Revit

Solution
Well, crossfire won't actually do anything/much for you in terms of rendering. Revit is entirely rendered on the CPU so the card won't really matter as much as CPU and ram. There may be some instances where crossfire would benefit some CAD implementations, but is more CPU/ram dependent. I would recommend spending $250 on a SINGLE card as this is more than sufficient. Unless running simulations or GPU specific computations, the applications you mentioned are much more CPU dependent and would not benefit from crossfire. Even the most advanced game engines today cannot render real-time using multiple GPUs.

However, if you are gaming also then obviously you would benefit from multiple cards.
Ok, here goes, i would recomend going for a gtx 970 as Nvidia cards tend to be more compatible with this type of application, even though "Quadros" are recommended, there really isnt much of a difference in performance. BUT... you stated that you wanted a "radeon" gpu yes? So the most referred to "amd equivalent" of the 970 is the R9 290x - But do not forget about the new 300 series gpus.

There we go, gtx 970/r9 290x.

Hope i helped 😉

Thanks bro :)

Im on 8gb ram and probably adding another 8gb. i7 4790 is my cpu. What GPU would you recommend sir for my case? Thanks in advance. Still getting opinions. :) somewhat im reconsidering gtx970 because as you've said single card is more than sufficient.

Well, if you aren't doing any gaming with this rig I wouldn't spend more than $250 on a GPU. For optimized rendering and simulation, that is where the Fire Pro/Quadro cards really shine. For OpenGL computations, AMD has the advantage as the GCN architecture allows for more raw computations when compared to Nvidia. Something like the R9 290 can be had for about $250.

GTX 960 can be had for $230:

If you also want to use the card for gaming, check out the R9 290X for $310:

I'd recommend a 290X over a 970 as an overclocked 290X actually performs better for less when compared to the 970. The R9 390 is just a rebadged 290X.

GTX 980 and Fury could potentially be options, but if you are going to budget $500 for a GPU you may as well save up for the big kahuna, the 980 Ti.

I also play nba2k, bf4 and AC. So therefore on a 200-400$ going for r9 290x for radeon and a gtx970 for nvidea :)
980ti is too much for me :) im contented with r9 290x/gtx970. :) thanks man

No problem, 290x is going to do very well for BF4 at 1080p. You won't be disappointed.
