Hello,

I am searching for a new graphics card to go with the new Gateway I just purchased. It has integrated graphics (which is why I'm buying a low end graphics card) and came with a skimpy 300W PSU. My question is: Can I use a Radeon HD 5670 with the existing PSU safely or would I need to upgrade?

Thanks.

That's mainly why I'm asking. I know they do recommend a 400W PSU, but my understanding is that the recommended figure incorporates a large amount of headroom and assumes that your computer is going to be at full load. I have a Phenom II x6 installed in there with it and 4DIMMs of DDR3, so I doubt that I'd ever reach the CPU's max TDP.

Hey guys, I wanna change my graphic card too and wanna be sure before buying it. Don't have any extra money atm and i`m so sick from artifacts I get from my 7600GT:S
Here my specs:
CPU Name: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
Motherboard Name: Asus M2NPV-VM
Rams: DIMM1: 4 gb A-Data (DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 320g 7200RPM ST3320620AS
Video Adapter: Asus EN7600GT
Power supply: 400W
PSU info http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/69/psuq.png/
So the question is, will my PSU handle 1GB GDDR5 HD5670?

hello,
i'm not really familiar with that brand, but you could try. If you want a new psu to run the card and many other in the future i would recommend this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] ir%20cx430
Its a Corsair CX430 (430W) and its popular for its durability and is able to provide the 430W easily. Also it's $44.99
Thanks you And You'r Mate Noshomax Here
