I am having a issue with the video cards. I can only get 4 of 6 monitors to work. The software from the graphic cards show 6 monitors but states I must release one monitor to add another. Why can I only get 2 per card? Isn't these cards suppose to run up to 4 monitors per card (2 - DVI, 1 HMDI and 1 VGA)?

Also the software stated I can crossfire but when I click it shuts off more monitors and I could not find any bridge wire or connectors on the cards.

These rae the two cards and my whole system: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/J4nN

7750's in crossfire aren't meant to run 6 monitors. It doesn't have enough Vram and other stuff to run 6 monitors. You better get 7950's in crossfire instead in order to achieve that as it has 3GB of VRAMs.

CRAP! I asked over and over as I was using 6 monitors and these are what were recommended. So what are my options? Return these two cards or can I add a third card?

Chris Tina

In order for one card to support 3 monitors, a display port (or mini display port) is needed, and an active display port adapter to DVI (VGA, etc.). And your particular HD 7750 video card does not have a display port. So, it's really a waste to get another HD 7750, you can't crossfire more than two HD 7750s, and it doesn't make sense to crossfire 3 low end cards. I assume that you don't play games, you will have to return those cards (since they can't support 6 monitors), and get a HD 7750 that have a display port on it. Hope this helps.

I am not running in crossfire. I am only running in normal mode and have all 6 monitors showing up but will only active 4 at a time. When I try to extend a 5th monitor it states I must release another one before it will active a 5th or 6th.

I posted a request to review here is the post: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/387610-31-please-review-trading-system-monitors#10489893 and this was what I was told would run 6 monitors at a time. I do not game, I am a stock trader and upgrading to 6 monitor system from 3 older Dell machine. I wanted to build a system and everything went well except the monitor issue. Please provide guidance on what card or cards should I get with my CPU & motherboard to run 6 monitors. Here is the system I built: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/J4nN My (6) monitors can run DVI or VGA.

Have you read my comment yet?

Yes, that is why I asked what do you recommend as card or cards to replace the 2 I have now.

So I could replace the 2 cards I have with 2 ASUS HD7750-T-1GD5 Radeon HD 7750 http://www.neweggbusiness.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121652 and should be able to run6 monitors? Or even: XFX AMD Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 http://www.amazon.com/XFX-DisplayPort-PCI-Express-FX775AZNP4-FX-775A-ZNP4/dp/B007Z3T5JC/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1363139366&sr=8-7&keywords=ASUS+HD7750-T-1GD5+Radeon+HD+7750

Yes it should work, but you will need active display port adapters as I said earlier, and you will need two of them (one per each card in order to run the third monitor for each card). Even on Asus' website states that it will support eyefinity technology. So it should work.

I am familiar Display Port as a inout/output, but I do not understand what you mean as I will need a active display port? I already have Display Port to HDMI cables form a previous system. So I will need something in addition to 2 of these cards? XFX AMD Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5

For the third monitor for each card, it is required for an ACTIVE adapter, which is something that truely transfers displayport signal into DVI/HDMI/VGA or others. So you have six monitors, each card takes 3 monitors, which means you will need two of the ACTIVE adapters. You will need something like this (2 of them): http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-DP2DVIS-DisplayPort-Active-Adapter/dp/B004SUO1GM

Here's some active displayport info:
http://www.overclock.net/t/721931/active-vs-passive-displayport-adapters-the-truth

I am starting to see why its easier to buy a Dell. I just want my 6 monitors to work so I can do my job. I really do not understand why I was told my current cards would support 3 monitors each, especially when it has 4 output, but I really dont care I just need them to work.

So I need to return my current 2 cards and get 2 XFX ATI Radeon HD7950 3 GB DDR5 2DVI/HDMI/2x Mini DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card (FX795ATDFC) http://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-DisplayPort-PCI-Express-FX795ATDFC/dp/B00713RT62/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=B95X87ZYQ4Z&coliid=I7S0SVU3WOPKB and 2 http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-DP2DVIS-DisplayPort-Active-Adapter/dp/B004SUO1GM even though I have DVI to DisplayPort cords.

Therefore I will have a DVI to DVI monitor, a DVI to HDMI, and a DVI to DisplayPort-Active-Adapter to DisplayPort. Times 2 for 6 monitors?

Sorry to sound cranky...I appreciate your help, just frustrated since I repeatedly asked these same questions before and ended up with this mess and delay.

Yes. That should fix your problem. And for the third one, did you mean display port to DVI? I know, it really sounds complicated.

I never imagined the damn video cards would be the issue...motherboard, cpu, etc I expected hang ups but that was smooth and easy. These video cards are a "f"ing pain.

I have (6) monitors that have DVI & VGA output. I want to use all (6) monitors at the same time on the same computer. I am not trying to be a smart ass, but I stated all this at this time I was building the system and seem to have be misunderstood.

I trade stocks, not a gamer. Do not need super graphics. I built this system http://pcpartpicker.com/p/J4nN , works great but only have (4) of the (6) monitors working now.

It appears I need to replace the (2) graphic cards I have now: GIGABYTE GV-R775OC-2GI Radeon HD 7750 2GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card Not sure why it has 4 output on each card but will only active (2) on each card for total of (4) monitors currently. Anyway.

Now you are suggesting I send back those cards and I need to buy (2) XFX ATI Radeon HD7950 3 GB DDR5 2DVI/HDMI/2x Mini DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card and (2) StarTech.com DP2DVIS DisplayPort to DVI Active Adapter to run (3) monitors on each card for a Total of (6) monitors?

I will then have a DVI out of new card in to DVI of first monitor, a HDMI out of new card in to DVI of a second monitor, and a DisplayPort out of new card into DisplayPort-Active-Adapter then into DVI of a third monitor. Then repeat on second card for total of (6) monitors???

Chris Tina

Wow, somethings wrong. I will have more in video cards then the whole rest f my system. Why coud I not use this card for 6 monitors (PowerColor AX7870 2GBD5-6D Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Eyefinity 6 Edition Video Card) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131474&Tpk=eyefinity%20edition

SO $350 for the one card and $120 for 6 active adapters. For $470 dollars is this my best option? Like I said I just want to work and stop screwing around back and forth on cards.

You don't need six active adapters, just four is enough. The first two monitors you don't need an active adapter.

I have a HD 7750 with a display port and a HDMI and DVI ports. I am running the monito from the DVI port. When I connect my TV via the HDMI port to HDMI port on TV the computer will not boot after the bios screen. Well there is no picture on the Monitor and the TV says something about no signal.
If I connect TV only via the DVI port it works fine. Card doesn't want to support two monitors. Will it work if I use the Display Port outlet on the card? Would need another adapter. TNKs

ipwn,

I have a similar issue as ChrisTineBruce. I have a similar monitor issue but only two are activated and running, the other 4 are powered on and appear to be in a power saver mode. My Catalyst Control Center and Windows 7 64bit Control Panel register 6 monitors.

I too am a day trader and have upgraded from a 2 monitor to a 6 monitor set up. Here are my specs below:

Mother Board: Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H
Chipset: i7 Quad Core Ivy Bridge
Graphics Card: VisionTek Radeon HD 7750 eye6 PCIE 2GB GDDR5 TRILL
Monitors (x6): 24" LG Flatron E2442TC
750w Power Supply
Utilizing (x6) Dual Link DVI-D 10ft Cables (Rosewill)
Utilizing (x6) Kingwin MDP-3 DVI-D to MiniDisplay port Active Adaptors.

Again, CCC and Win7 Control Panel registers the monitors being plugged in, but only two turn on. What am I missing and where is my disconnect? I feel the problem might be simple, but then again I am not super savy with graphics cards. I was under the impression that everything fit so I should work. Good with stocks, but not building machines. Please advice.

Well, your setup should be fine, but I am afraid of your display port active adapters are not really "active" ones. I saw the active adapters on newegg, there's five reviews, and apparently every review gives only one egg (or 1 out of 5 stars). That should tell you something. It may be a bad product (proof on the bottom, link provided). Here's a list of AMD's validated active adapters, might as well take a look.

You were right,

I returned all 8 (Kingwin/Nippon) adapters and picked up 4 VisionTek 900341 Mini DisplayPort to DVI-D Adapter to compliment the active adapters that came with the card. All 6 monitors are a go.

the VisionTek 900341 Mini DisplayPort to DVI-D Adapter are active and good to go in case anyone needs suggestions.

Good to know that your 6 monitor setup are good to go. Sometimes you really want to read the reviews of the product before you actually buy it.
