Radeon HD 7850 vs GTX 660

I am trying to decide a build for my brother under 600 dollars and I am deciding between these two cards. I've heard that these cards perform similarly, but the 660 is 45$ more expensive. I want to know, is it worth it? Thx in Advance

Debating between fx 6300 and intel core i3

I found that an Intel-Q775 or and AMD 965/1090T can't push the 660. It needs an i5 for whatever reason to get better performance....... ( not benchmark performance, real world ( sitting behind your computer so you can feel it ) performance.

I haven't tried an i3 so I can't opine.

then there are games that favor one brand or the other...... gotta like corporate dollars.

The GTX 660 is faster, but not by leaps and bounds. But bear in mind that the cheapest 7850s only have 1GB VRAM. All GTX 660s have 2GB, and the price gap to 7850s with 2GB is not quite as big.

That is True. Do you think a fx 6300 would bottleneck this gpu? (660) or an i3?

Depends on the game, in CPU-intensive games there might be some bottlenecking. In most cases an FX-6300 or Core i3 should be fine. You don't want to overspend on the CPU either, then you'd just be bottlenecked by the graphics card.

The 760 is worth the extra money, but it depends on your priorities and the budget etc.
