Hey Guys,

Looking for the best GPU upgrade for BF4 Multiplayer.

I'm between a Sapphire Radeon HD 7990(refurbished) and an EVGA GeForce GTX 970.

My current setup is as follows:

MOBO: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z 990FX
CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.8GHz (OC) Socket AM3+
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB Dual/Quad Channel DDR3 1600MHz
GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 660 2GB
PSU: Corsair CX750M
SSD: Samsung SSD 840 512GB
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB 7200RPM SATA-6GBPS
Display: Dual Acer 27" S275HL IPS at 75Hz

My fps is around 50-60 on "High" settings. Would like to run BF4 on Ultra and get 60+ fps.

Thanks guys!!

You really don't need the 7990 for 1080p. The GTX970 is designed for 1440p so it will find any 1080p game a breeze, even at ultra settings you should be at 80+FPS no sweat. I'd avoid the risk of the 7990 as not only is it refurbished, but it was discontinued in the first place due to soo many complaints. The only reason to get the 7990 is if you're looking into investing for a 4k monitor.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Prices are about the same but I read benchmarks for 7990 on BF4 w/ ultra settings were 100+...so I figured there was a catch...what's the deal with the 7990 melting??

I don't mind the loudness. I'm concerned about the temps though. Would a custom liquid cooling loop solve the problem? I don't want to worry/have to be stressing about temps (I'm legit OCD and spend hours a day monitoring temps) but I love the idea of performance without exorbitant costs (i.e., what the 7990 purports). I've never had issues with refurbs as long as there is a replacement plan/warranty available. I'm constantly blowing up brand new hardware and rma'ing it anyways.
