hi,

I need a new gpu, and i saw the XFX HD4850 isn't very expensive (100euro). But I don't know how good this gpu is...
I don't know very much about benchmarks and stuff so I hope you guys can help me.

I use a 22" screen (I want to play games at 1680x1050).
The games I want to play at med-high quality are:
Call of Duty 2 (I hope this game isn't a problem to play it on DX9 and 1680x1050 and 250FPS steady?);
Call of Duty 4 (can I run this game on 1680x1050 with 125FPS steady?)
and games like crysis.

The gpu needs 450W power supply A mark, and my power supply is 450W B mark 🙁 so i need a new one, and i was thinking about 600-650W. What do u guys say, corsair? thermaltake? OCZ? Cooler Master? and is 600-650 enough for 2 years?

Greetz,

Jimm. :na:

😱 Are you serious? You do know that you can't really even tell a difference past about 60FPS, right?...
Anyhow, the 4850 is really a great card for that resolution. It will play all the newest games with most of the eye-candy turned on (With the exception of some few).

COD2: very fast m1 shooting =d + far jumping @ 250fps
COD4: if I shoot in walls or something , and there comes smoke free, my fps drops down to 30 ,
thats the reason why i want a good gpu.

At the moment I have a 8600GT 256mb, and when someone threws smoke (in cod2/4), my fps goes from 180-250 to 20-30...

But is a HD4850 good enough?

The question is, does it satisfy me with my requirements? or not?

it should. The 4850 is a great card and both of those games are relatively easy to run on higher settings. Have fun with the 4850. where do you live? it's weird that its 100 euros because its 100 dollars in the USA. make sure you're getting a fair deal

you don't need a one gig version unless u planning to play GTA4 with max textures... but looks like its only 10 more.... so its really up to you... more of like a bragging rights thing lol
i've had my 4850 512mb for 10 months now.... very happy with it

i have a 4850 512, i can run any game i have (with the exception of the crytek games) at max settings, 1920x1200. 60fps. games like fallout 3, gta4, oblivion... but its prolly my phenom II, the best amd processor, no copmetition with the i7 though 🙁

ive got a 4850 512 and run cod4 at 720p (yes i know its lower res than u want) with maxed out settings. i have multiplayer locked at 90 fps (because the game engine rounds up alot of values like jump height when at certain fps, for those who don't play cod much) and it NEVER drops under that. I could lock it at 120 like you want, but it drops under sometimes.

as for the ram, if you don't love crysis or GTA4, then youre not going to need 1GB vram. GTA4 needs it because the developers decided to be stupid when they ported it to pc and not optimize the game to run well. Crysis just uses lots of vram for their huge textures. 512 mb causes some odd issues where the game doesnt load objects till theyre very close.

especially if he has AA/AF maxed out too

dude wait a month amd is supposed to release their new chip...

also im not lying, its because windows 7 automatically sets over 1gb of my sys ram for graphics
