ATI has released a budget version of "Radeon" card named "Radeon LE" (Fig. 1) to the retail market recently. Besides the speed differences of video core and memory, the main difference between Radeon and Radeon LE is that the feature of ATI HyperZ, which claims can boost the effective memory bandwidth by 20%, on Radeon is disabled on Radeon LE (Table 1). However, the Radeon LE can be hacked to a Radeon by a registry editing and thus unlocked the disabled HyperZ feacture on Radeon LE. The performance gain of Radeon LE after hacking is showed on Fig. 2.
