I'm not sure if you completely got what he meant here, but yeah, you can.
however you can't use SLI on a crossfire board, and you can't use crossfire on an SLI board.

Ya know what'd be really sick? If ATi actually releases their special drivers that allow you to run crossfire on any board with 2 x16 slots.

however you can't use SLI on a crossfire board, and you can't use crossfire on an SLI board.
it is possible to run SLI on a Crossfire board using hacked drivers (not with 8800s though).
It's probably also possible to run 2 ATI cards driving multi-monitor on an nVidia chipset & vice versa.
