Hello All!
I just upgraded my PC from an ancient system so I could do some light gaming and just for overall performance increases. Needless to say I have been out of the game for a while, and HDMI just came out when I used to game, so I usually had VGA or DVI. The GPU I upgraded to is a Radeon R7 240, http://www.bestbuy.com/site/xfx-core-edition-amd-radeon-r7-240-4gb-ddr3-pci-express-3-0-graphics-card/5315800.p?skuId=5315800&ref=212&loc=1&ksid=077e6a6b-db6c-44ba-a8a6-4048f2d8129f&ksprof_id=8&ksaffcode=pg199154&ksdevice=c

That is the link if it helps.
Anyway my problem is when I connect to my 1080p LED Sharp TV, I get a really low resolution. VGA looks 10x better. I really want to use the HDMI feature with this GPU. The computer loads fine and everything runs games included, but like I said the resolution is just garbage, If anyone has any ideas on why this would be happening, all ideas are welcome. Also I have gone into the settings and messed around with a few things, that have made it a little better, but obviously there is a major setting or something that I am missing that is creating the super low resolution. Just in case this helps, and because it has integrated graphics, my CPU is an APU, the A10-7700k Kaveri. I currently have my GPU the R7 set as my primary, and the APU integrated graphics seem to be disabled, the drivers are also up to date. My MOBO is an ASUS A68HM-K FM2+ AMD A68H FCH (Bolton D2H) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD. Thank you everyone!

I´m using a MSI R7 240 2Gb with a UHD TV, 4K resolution, only had a problem when instaled the windows 10 anniversary update, now it´s working perfectly after clean install of windows with the update already included. Try download and install latest driver from AMD website. Best yet is a clean install of windows and latest driver. Older Windows like 7 don´t support more then Directx 9, that may be an issue.

Your TV is probably not true 1080P. A lot of TV's are capabable of 1080P only through automatic downsampling. Try setting the TV for 1366x768, which is probably its native resolution. It could also be 1600x900. If you know the exact model of the Sharp TV, we can find out for sure.

I figured out what the problem was! The TV I am using has the HDMI 2 port as a MHL port as well, so after switching it to HDMI 1 the resolution problem cleared up.
