I've had this card for about a year now and Ive been experiencing this problem ever since ive played BF4 (Which is actually my first game with this card) so strait to the point The card's default setting is....
1180 ==> Coreclock
and
1400 ==> memclock
If the card is set to the default any game i play will crash but the crash type is different in each game like in bf4 i get a RSOD then restart
in state of decay i get a BSOD then restart
in CS GO i get a freeze no restart
and in Insurgency I also get a freeze no restart

This card of mine seems to only work without crashing if i set the core clock to 1150 mhz soo
I want to know whats up with it cause it bothers me thanks to anyones feed back :)

sounds like the factory overclock the card came with isn't stable. that's not a big deal, the factory overclock my r9-280x came with wasn't stable either.

you probably can stabilize the card by downloading msi afterburner, and bumping the core voltages a little (the memory voltage you can probably skip since you don't need to lower the memory speed to stabilize your card). Just because it's an unstable factory overclock doesn't mean it's a bad card. I was actually able to overclock my r9-280x pretty substantially despite it's initial instability.
1050mhz Core -> 1155mhz core
1500mhz vram -> 1650mhz vram

rock solid overclocks too i might add.
its just the factory settings aren't working as good as they should be.

that or you just need to do a clean re-install your gpu drivers.

The engine clock is actually 1150 with boost to 1180. This means it will rise up (automatically) to 1180 when there is thermal headroom for it to do so without overheating the card. To set it to 1180 is probably overheating the card and since it's locked there, it freezes/crashes. Basically, setting the clock to 1180 means you are overclocking an already overclocked card and it's probably overheating.

Wait so If an average user were to use this card then hed probably RMA it lol cause it is by default set to 1180 but yes sir Martell1977 I did think of that too
but then i tried something else I Deleted my driver and reinstalled it choosing custom and only installing the driver and I also installed MSI after burner
so far it seems to have gone better i suppose but not all good I still get crashes but I dont get any RSOD or BSOD its just the game that freezes now
Thank you for your answers guys :)

How are your temps? CPU and GPU. Also, you could try memtest to make sure your RAM is healthy.
