Looking to upgrade an old build. I know my CPU will bottleneck performance, so I'm open to recommendations. Looking at the Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 4GB. Current specs are:
AMD Phenom II X4 820 on an ASUS M5A88-M board
16GB ram (decent ram iirc, G.Skill),
600Watt OCZ power supply.
I am upgrading from a Radeon 5760 and planning to upgrade the CPU in the future (3 months or so) to the AMD FX-8320 8-Core Black Edition. Would the R9 270X do much for me, or will it be absolute overkill? What might be the best "bang for my buck" for this and future processor? Thanks much!!

Ok, then I recommend an R9 380 4gb. that would suit you well even if you'll be cpu limited in some situations (with any gpu). But if you upgrade the cpu in 3 months you will be fine even with the R9 390 (bottleneck now but very good performance with the new ). Yor current cpu cannot exploit the R9 390 to its...
Thanks ChumP! The R9 270X is close in price to the 950 on Amazon (Sapphire has a rebate going, $20 off of the $189.99 price, making it 169.99 and close enough to the price of the 950 (159.99).

Compuser10165, budget isn't much of a concern since I know my PC will probably not benefit from any card out of my price range. I am looking for top-end that my rig can actually use and benefit from. Thanks much for the help!!

Not sure if this will make a difference... I am running a 3-monitor setup at 5760x1080. Sorry if that makes a difference and I didn't mention it.
I'm surprised honestly that my rig will handle such a card... maybe my machine isn't as crappy as I thought, haha. I figured I'd surely run out of performance benefit before hitting the upper end cards. Thanks so much!!

Yor current cpu cannot exploit the R9 390 to its fullest potential but it will be a great benefit to you setup no matter what. So my initial advice remains: R9 380 4gb or R9 390. Any would be a good choice.

Thanks so much Comp! Nice to know my PC isn't as bad as I thought! I'm only hitting mid-20's FPS on DayZ and hoping for a nice increase in both performance and quality.
