How long do you reckon a Radeon R9 295x2 would last to play games such as BF4 on high settings, before needing to upgrade?

Pretty much until device's death, I believe? Provided that games don't suddenly get heavier at 1080p ofc.

Besides the occasional issues that come with it being a dual GPU, the card was made with 4k in mind AFAIK. 1080p is going to be a walk in the park for it, likely even in single GPU mode for many games.
