I have a 750 power supply and AMD FX 6300 Six-core processor. I currently have a r9 270x video card. I was thinking of upgrading to 390x. Would my computer be able to run 390x with the power supply and processor I have? I also have an ASUS motherboard just in case.

Solution

that is an amd asus motherboard

amd cpu's only

if you dont know what power supply you have, you need to open your case and look inside

the r9 390x is a bad buy, the gtx 1070 is what you need to look into

there is no current amd cpu good enough to keep up, no need wasting money on "upgrading" your current cpu with another amd one

I suggest you make a new post asking people to help you build a good setup for a gtx 1070

we need the exact power supply make and model, "750w" is not enough information

also your specs are not good enough to take advantage of a 390x

time for an upgrade

The PSU is probably fine, but do you know what brand it is? With the 6300 you will bottleneck the 390. You can still get the 390 if you plan to upgrade your cpu in the near future, but if not i would advice stepping down to maybe a 380.

I think my power supply is corsair. Anyways I have an asus motherboard and I was thinking of upgrading my cpu too. Would an intel fit on an asus motherboard? if not, what's a better AMD processor that's around 100-200?
