Hey people,

I bought the RX 480 8gb, fitted it and downloaded the latest drivers but my system is only showing it as having 4gb. I can't quite understand it, I know there were batches of 4gb versions that were really 8gb if that has anything to do with it.

PC Specs:

Intel i7 950 3.06ghz
Gigabyte x58-usb3
14GB RAM
Radeon RX480 8Gb
Windows 10 64bit

Solution
no, PCIe will not reduce your RAM. remember benchmark programs haven't been updated to this generation of cards.

try downloading something like GPU-Z or similar to check your card specs.

Hey Greeko, I basically ran a bench mark program to make sure I could run No Man's Sky and it came back with me having a 4 gig rx 480 I was in a rush so didn't get chance to investigate further.

I am thinking maybe because my motherboard is fairly old and it's pcie slots are only 2.0 not 3.0 that that might be the cause?
