First I must disclose that I am, by no means, a tech savvy guy. I even got my friend to build my PC for me because I have no idea what any of it means.

I've had the AMD Radeon RX480 for about 5 months now, and I was wondering if 82C is too hot or if that's okay? The game I play most of the time is Overwatch, and on max settings the temp is predominantly at 82C, very ocassionally slipping to 83C.

If that's too hot, are there any easy fixes for this? I'm reluctant to open the case and fiddle about inside as I don't know the first thing about PC builds(but I will if I have to). Would stuff like having it raised off the ground or having an external fan pointing into it help at all?

Thanks in advance, and sorry if I have left any important info out, I don't really know what you need

Solution
Above 80C is a little too hot for me personally. But the Crimson drivers default to a 80C target, so it is perfectly safe.

The simplest solution would be to adjust your fan target and max speeds (these are located in your crimson drivers under Global Wattman). If you are not using a reference card, it should be fairly easy to keep it at 70C.

Another option you have is to undervolt your card (Under Global Wattman). RX 480s are great at undervolting which will provide better power efficiency and lower thermals. This may also help performance in keeping your clock speed at its target.

Thanks for the help, are there any specific numbers and settings I should change? I found Global Wattman and fiddled with the settings inbetween playing some Overwatch, it seemed to lower the temperature but it slowly kept creeping back up.

I change something and then it crashed due to an unexpected system failure or something. How exactly do I undervolt it?

Actually scratch my last question, I've fiddled about with it some more and I've managed to get it down to 71C in game, thank you for your help
