Radiator pulling air in or out?

Hi

I have to front mount my radiator because I have the Thermaltake 27 case.

I have the front mounted radiator pushing air out. But this means all I have pushing air into the system is the rear fan. Which usually is an exhaust.

My question is should I pull air from the front and let the warm air from the radiator cool my components or keep it as it is?

My gpu is sitting around 78C Atm. Wish I never bought this Thermaltake 27 case now :-/

The gpu is a gtx 1080

Yes, it will be fine to mount your radiator in the front. I have my radiator mounted at the front of the case and my temps are just fine. The water in the radiator is not as hot as the CPU cores, so you are not heating the air up enough to make a big difference. In the end, allowing the heat to rise naturally will give you better temps then trying to fight the laws of physics.

Use the front and bottom case fans to pull air in, and use the top and the rear case fans to push air out. Heat rises, so you don't want to fight physics.

Additionally, you only want to pull air in on your case where there are screens to protect from dust. If you are pulling air in from the rear, then you will bring a lot of dust in your case which will create more heat, hurt performance, and can damage equipment over time. This is another reason why the front is intake as it has a screen protector and the rear is exhaust as it typically does not have a screen protector.

Thanks I put a filter on the rear like.

Will it be ok to blow the hot air from the radiator at the front through the system?

I would put the rad on the top but my case has a gullwing door. May buy a new case in a few weeks. It’s a shame because it’s only about 4 weeks old :-/

If possible, you want cool air coming across a rad so pulling in from outside the case is best. As for the impact of warm air on components, bear in mind that air-cooling expels hot air into the case anyway. So you're not doing anything that is unusual in a PC environment by putting warm air from a rad into the case.

Additionally, given the price of building a PC these days, getting an inexpensive case is tempting. But now you see why they are inexpensive because they can only hold the basic parts. Phanteks makes great cases, I highly recommend them. Fractal Design makes some good cases as well. Both brands are very friendly to water cooling to fitting your rad wont be an issue.

I changed it all round and gaming it was sitting around 73C-74C which is a lot better. I will test it more tonight when I have more time. Hopefully it stays there. I will get myself another case soon. I’ll buy it next month. One where I can mount the rad too the top too and a tempered glass side. Thanks for all your replies and taking your time to help me
