I noticed, it was tom I think that posted overclocked benchmarks for the retail radion 8500 overclocked.

There are however no updated on the overclocked scores with the newer drivers.

I am just wondering incase ATI introduce a 6 month cycle by introing a higher clocked Radion 8500, as a Pro or Fury varient. Thus they will follow the same pattern as Nvida, with new product and 6 month update.

As OEM's get sold chips I was also wondering if any of them are gona intoroduce there own 'pro' version. Much like powercolour and other manu's do with Nvida products (e.g. all Geforce 3's are not the same)

ATI hasn't announced anything like that yet, but it might be interesting.

As far as OEM manufacturers, they have a slower chip to start with, so to overclock it, they neeed to start getting creative with the design for cooling purposes.

Your right about OEM chips at the mo, however I suspect ATI has seen the value of Nvidia spliting the costs of promoteing a product though people like creative, Asus and others. ATI them selfs have alwas been relitivly conservitive about "pro" products, so by useing companys that are willing to 'risk' with more expenive and higher performance product and 'hang it out' will increase ALL ati sales.

I suspect this is only the beging for ati working with other retail vendors. (I suspect ATI will try to retain OEM sales, and leave Retail to others, thus reduceing there risk). I suspect this is just a test at the moment.
