I'm looking to go from Vista to W7 64. This of course will mean a clean install.

My problem: I have OS running on Raid 0 and all my data on the Raid 5. I'm using Intel's Rapid Storage software with the Embedded controller on my MB. When I wipe the raid 0 OS array, I'm pretty sure the raid 5 configuration will be gone as well!

Can I upgrade to OS W7 64 on the Raid 0 without losing what I have on Raid 5?

Yes, when you do the install it will ask you what partition you want to use.

Cleanest way is just to remove any partitions on the raid-0 and then point the installer at the clean array and let windows do its job.

The raid-5 will still be there, untouched.

Thank you... I'll let you know how it comes out when I try it; haven't even bought the upgrades yet. :)

Backup is King, with administrator rights you can engage volumes one at a time - take your raid5 out of the picture when you reinstall; this should be fine if the stripped (raid5) drive is only for data and or paging files.
