RAID 0 Install, please help!

Hi all,

I want to configure a RAID 0 installation on my homebuilt computer. I use Windows 7 64 bit, motherboard is a GA-MA790X-UD4P, AMD Phenom 940, 2 - 1TB SATA barracudas, 9800 GTX Nvidia GPU. I'm not a noob to computers, but I have NEVER installed a RAID 0 on a computer before. Can someone lay down the steps I need to take to do this step by step? Forever grateful, thank you.

Take a deep breath and forget about it.

There is generally no real world(vs. synthetic transfer rate benchmarks) performance advantage to raid of any kind for conventional hard drives. It's value to the casual user is much overhyped.

There are some specific applications that will benefit, but
gaming is not one of them. Even if you have an application which reads one input file sequentially, and writes
it out, you will perform about as well by putting the input on one drive, and the output on the other.

Don't forget that AID0 is bad as an OS. If your lucky the controller won't add anything to the access times, which is something OS drives like. When your unlucky, you'll have to reinstall windows and ALL your programs when the driver fails. As Geo correctly said, not worth it.

Great, that is exactly what I needed, almost feels like he made that video with my computer parts in mind...lol thank you! Although, I have one issue that needs answering, do I have to use identical part number hard drives? I have the 2 Barracuda 1 TB drives, but I notice they have different part numbers, but have the same specs. He doesn't speak about that issue in the video. Thanks again for taking the time.

It won't prevent AID0 from working. You can even use very dissimilar drives in AID0 but because the faster drive slows down to the speed of the slower drive, you basically threw money away.

I'd still pay attention to what Geo and I have said. This is a bad idea. (probably)
