[SOLVED] Raid 0 on 4 x M.2_2 slots

Solution
Hi all,

Wondering if I bought one of the new ROG STRIX Z690-F GAMING WIFI and wanted to RAID-0 4 x 1TB M.2 SSDs (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/wd-b...-solid-state-drive-wds100t1x0e-hd-57h-wd.html) would I be bottlenecked by any limitations? I'd like for it top effectively quadruple read and write speeds but I've read some motherboards are limited?

Thanks,

J
An older test on RAID 0 + NVMe drives.

I've seen nothing since then to contradict their findings of - "Don't bother"

Unlikely that you will truly gain any advantage via the described RAID 0 configuration.

And likely the set up will be overly cumbersome and problematic. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Moving thread from "Systems" to "Storage".

There are some Storage experts there who can provide more information and detail as necessary. Especially with respect to using RAID.

You may gain some performance but problems usually out way any gains with RAID 0.
Seriously reconsider a better alternative as the disadvantage of using RAID 0 is that there is no parity or data redundancy built into the system in the event of a drive failure. You would loose all your data.
RAID 0 is best used in environments where high-speed read/write speeds are needed such as live streaming video and video editing.

Even Linus did a review on Raid 0 and his conclusion was don’t bother it’s not worth it all you’re going to get are good benchmarks
