I bought a 128 toshiba q series sdd last year. I'm needing some space so I was thinking of getting another and configure for raid 0. I know that you shouldn't mix brands or models for raid 0, but what about the same model and size, but bought a year apart? Has there been any updates in the q series that would affect my set up?

at first I thought there would be increased performance like regular drives. Apparently there are, except mostly in benchmarks, in real world the differences are not as noticeable unless if editting, etc, only this is a boot up drive and not a scratch drive so it wouldn't make sense for me... I'm looking into cheap 256's now and just adding it on like you say

I just threw another Intel 330 240GB SSD i snagged of eBay into a RAID0... I find the speed difference noticeable where it counts. Mostly when loading games and such. I needed more space and enjoy that I don't have to manage 2 separate drives for installs. A big C drive in RAID0 is nice. Just my thoughts. General use doesn't really show anything noticeable though.

yea, I have like 6 hard drives, almost all of them different brands and sizes... it's definitely getting annoying managing all of drives and the idea of adding yet another one is kind of one of the reasons why I was looking into raid 0. But the added risk of losing my stuff is holding me back. Without major improvements in speed its not worth the risk. I don't game so I don't know what loading times are like for that, but for photoshop and the other programs I use, loading is like one or two seconds and if I use the new larger 256 ssd as the boot drive and the current 128 sdd as a standalone scratch drive, I think for my purposes this is the better route. Thanks for the input!
