Raid 0 with Crucial M500 240gb, one drive allready runs os...

Hello. I need a advice about setting up a raid 0 in my system. I have Crucial M500, 240 gb, running a Windows 8.1 in my system and i want to buy another one and make a array with existing one. Question is simple, do i need factory reset my M500 to factory state, with no partition on it, or just make partition on a new one, set the controller on a motherboard to raid and install os??
I know the cons for the raid 0, so i'm kindly asking you to just answer the question and give me a nice advice. I'm doing this because i need more space but i need one large partition, and bigger sized ssd is just to expensive here in Croatia.
I'll be backing the things up on a WD 500 gb so that's not an issue.

You need to instal both drives, create the RAID array, then install the OS.

But why? You performance in that use case will not increase.
Why do you really need a partition larger than 240GB?

I really need that kind of space for programs that i use. Video and image editing... And my little brother who also use my pc loves Battlefield 4 and when i can he always gets dlc and including other updates my ssd is almost full. So around 430 gb would be perfect. And since i need backup drive anyway raid 0 negativities does not bug me

For video saves and game DLC you can almost certainly designate another drive letter for that.

Well, you can not install dlc on another drive or partition other than your game is allready installed. I understand what you telling me. If not raid 0 than maybe i'll buy smaller 120 gb ssd for a windows and programs, and games will be on a my current ssd. But for other than that i simply don't settle

So have the OS and applications on one SSD, and the game(s) installed on the other SSD.
Do they really need to be RAIDed?

Be sure that however you RAID them...it also supports the TRIM function.

Thank you. I have Z87 motherboard, so TRIM support is no problem. I know what you telling me, but since i allready do regular backups, raid is non issue for me.
