Hi i am wanting to buy abother 120gb samsung evo ssd and put it into raid 0. I know how to setup raid but i do not know if you can use a new and a used ssd. If so what do i need to do? Will i need to wipe the old drive some how? If i do how do you do that?

Solution
yes u can use new and used drives - u say u know how to set up raid in your 2nd sentence and then ask how to do it in your 3rd, 4th and 5th...

forget about RAID anything with those drives

Oh sorry I meant like if I had two new drives ready I would be fine with configuring raid. But since I have a old one with old files and have a brand new one I just wanted to know what had to be done to the old drive in order to get the raid 0 going

u would need 3 drives to use those 2 in a RAID 0... u need a drive for the OS to boot from
using both for a RAID 0 and then using that Volume as the Only drive is very foolish
like i said, forget about RAID and just install the other drive and use it for more storage space

So I can not just setup the raid configuration and then reinstall Windows onto the raid?

K thanks any ways you weren't of any help. I followed my user manual and got my ssds into raid 0 and with the raid driver on a usb flash drive i was able to get my os on my ssd raid

Ummmmmm.... so not true. RAID 0 with SSD is magic.

So how did you do this? I am about to do the same. I have an SSD that I have been using for a couple of months and just bought a new one.

Ok so in your user manual for your motherboard their should be a section that guides you through setting up the raid you want. This meant for me to enter the bios go to sata configuration, enable raid, then enter my drive configuration and set up the level and select the drives for raid. Once i got the raid configured i had to put on a raid driver that should be found on your motherboard website and put it onto a flash drive. Once you start to install windows you have to click load drive and find the driver that is on the flash drive and select it and then you should be good to go. Just setup windows like normal after that

Good thing I back up everything
