Software / Motherboard RAID is rarely much faster than just a single drive. So, if you really expect to need more bandwidth than a single drive can provide, you may have to consider a hardware RAID card.

That having been said, most security system software will have no problem writing all the streams at once to just a single drive. Unless you're planning on having more than 24 cameras or recording at really high definition. More than anything you'll probably need a decent processor that can keep up with compressing the video streams. Whatever software you're planning to run should have computer specs required to run it properly.
