Would raid zero be the best choice for my home filesharing server?? I heard somewhere that if you have a 5gig 5400 rpm on the same line as a 40 gig 7200 rpm the fastest speed would be 5400rpm and 10 gig... would this be true? can someone explain some of this stuff to me? thanks

from what I know, and it is very little, for one raid setup you need identical drives on the raid. the two dives become one and the speed increases. there is also less chance of data loss as it's now on more than one drive with raid striping. I could be wrong about this, but that's what I've heard.

You going to let another guy lay his hands on your girl? I wouldn't. Be your own tech service.

this is true

you can't configure in raid 0 (stripe mod) your 2 HD

you lost 30G & lost your 40G perf

the unique thing you can do in raid is to attach your 5G on your 40G to have an logical 45G HD
