raid 1 removal but keeping whats on it

two 1 tb hdd in raid 1 how do i remove the raid 1 and use them both separate but keep whats on it on one

get another drive big enough to copy the data over to then disable raid on the drives then copy the data back on to the one drive.

even if it has programs on applications etc on it ? why cant they just be split surely that is possible and if it isn't why isn't i. i can do that no problem just would take ages

As above...copy the data to a different physical drive.
Give it the same drive letter as the RAID 1 had.

Anything else, while theoretically possible, may lead to complete and utter fail.

And if you'd started a few hours ago, you'd be mostly done by now.

i did it i moved over everything onto an external hdd, then took ages trying to remove the virtual block but i worked it out and now have them seperate
