Raid 1 SSD and TRIM

I'm interested in running two ssds in raid 1 with TRIM enabled. However, I'm told that TRIM will not work if I'm running them on an actual raid card and that a raid 1 array will face performance issues if I run it via the mobo instead of the cpu.

The mobo will have a z77 northbridge so at least I know TRIM would work if I ran it on the mobo. I'm considering using the Asrock Z77 3 Extreme.

Will the performance loss be negligible or should I use a raid card and just use an SSD with good garbage collection.

Thank you in advance.

I have run two SSDs in raid and it's not really worth the trouble as the speed gain is not that noticable. A SSD by itself is so fast that you can really only get the speed performance to be noticeable if everything else on the computer is overclocked , cpu ram and video cards.

I'm not talking about running them in raid 0.
