I was presented with the three disks for a raid 5 set up, and only the disks. I am very new to raid 5 and was wondering what i could do to get the existing data off the disks, and rebuild it. what equipment would i need to buy, and so on. also any tutorials you all have might be in order. i accepted them as this might be a fun puzzle to figure out.

thanks

Ok they are SATA at least which is good. IF you have a similar RAID card you can import to a RAID card. I just don't understand why they didn't send the raid card with it? did they not know that you need it or was it an Onboard raid?
R-Studio is a great software and is only 80 bucks or you can try to use ReclaimME free raid recovery.

If they are SAS disk then you NEED a SAS controller and connectors to access the drives. If they are sata you can just connect them to any SATA port on the hard drives.

If you want to REALLY be careful then i would use a software like DataRescue DD and make a full 1:1 bit for bit image of each drive first before you go trying to rebuild/remake the raid or recovery the files.
