RAID controller disabled in BIOS, RAID is showing in windows 10

Hi,

Mobo: GA-Z270X-Ultra Gaming

I booted in BIOS and activated Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology, then I created i RAID 1 setup with to 1 TB disks. When Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology was enabled my bootdisk (250GB SSD) disappeared from bootdevices in BIOS, and I was not able to boot in to windows. I then deactivated Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology and enabled AHCI. I could then choose to boot from the SSD again, when I then entered windows I could see my RAID 1 setup (2x 1TB) showing as one disk and everything looks normal.

Why can I see the raidsetup in windows when my RAID controller is deactivated and set to AHCI?
Will the RAID 1 setup work as normal and mirror my files?

You are using software raid and nothing to do with any physical raid controller.

It will work for as long as there are no errors.

So don't forget that RAID is no substitute for backup.
