RAID failed while adding extra drive

I installed another 2TB drive and tried to add it to my existing RAID 5 3 x 2TB drive RAID using Intel RAID storage technology software. The rebuild process started but stopped with the error the drive was degraded. I shut down the machine and restarted. On windows startup it stated that it was repaiing drives. When the computer finally booted the RAID was shown as a single 4TB volume but all but a few folders where missing. I have tried using Recuva on the volume but it seems to only find the files which have been actually deleted from the drive not the files which have disappeared when the rebuld failed. Is there any other software that is more suited to this type of recovery.

This is why we have backups.

I'm not sure there is anything that will recover stuff from a RAID 5 rebuild that failed partway through.
