I'm looking for a raid drive or enclosure that has usb 3.1 port . Anyone know any good one ? Most of the drive available only support thunderbolt and usb 3.0. The problem usb 3 is not fast for my need , i need transfer rate above 5Gb/s . Also it's not many mobo on the market support thunderbolt 2, nowadays it's rarely to find the thunderbolt2 card in my local market here. The next technology will be usb 3.1 and thunderbolt 3.

Thanks.

Yes, i mean gen2 type-C port. Exteral ssd actually is the best solution in term of speed, but... not for my budget. I need 20 TB capacity so using ssd + raid enclosure will cost me $9000+ (or maybe $7500+ without using dedicated hardware RAID system). Not to mention to double it for build the cloning drives . i alwasy work using additional clone drive, backup every couple hours. In case there's failure in one of the drive in the raid. i can't directly switch to my cloning drive and continue working rather than have to wait a whole day for recovering process (after the fail drives has been replaced). Working on the thight deadline , make me think to always work with additional cloning drive. i've been in this situation couple of times and the cloning drives really save my life.

ssd via sata interface only give me 500MB/s , i need minimum 900MB/s (or 7Gb/s) , that's why even using ssd , i still need to raid them.

They're gonna cost a lot but not as expensive as using SSD. I actually already have couple of option with the cheaper price for 20TB :
areca 8050T2 - 1100-1200MB/s at raid 6 (thunderbolt2) <-- my best option so far.
lacie 8 big - 1100MB/s (thunderbolt2)
lacie 6 big - can reach 1400MB/s at raid 0 (thunderbolt3) <-- this maybe the next option but has not got the fix price from local distributor.

areca 8050t2 enclosure only : $2100 + additional 8x seagate enterprise/constallation 3TB ($900) , so total about $3000+ which is till in my budget. I don't have know the price for lacie yet, i haven't got replied from them. So this areca is suppose to be enough for me. I assume they will be around under $4500.

The problem is that for this kind of speed , they still need to operate on thunderbolt port (no other option) ... and these drives (areca, lacie etc) still use previous thunderbolt 2 technology. Why is it the problem ?.... because i can't find any new mobo with thunderbolt2 support. For example if i want to use ryzen, the am4 mobo available on the market now does not support thunderbolt2. If using intel x99 mobo , only little option to choose and nowadays it's hard to find that thunderbolt2 card on the local market here. Thunderbolt 2 is not 'old' enough but every mobo fastly goes to usb 3.1 gen2 and thunderbolt3.

So i'm looking an alternative usb3.1 or thunderbolt3 raid system to be able to work with latest mobo model.

anyway , i'm now looking the possibilities of any raid system that work using 10Gbit ethernet. I haven't dig a lot of information about it. Maybe this can solve my problem. Gbit ethernet has been there for quite long time, i don't know if any latest raid device still utilizing it. The mainstream is going to usb 3.1 and TB3.
