I am trying to set up a RAID 0 on my new Z170, Win8, 2x 3GB Toshiba HDD system.
1) After setting up the HDDs as a striped RAID in BIOS, should it appear as ONE disk in Windows8 Disk Management? (or are you still supposed to see them as 2 disks here, and configure them as a striped raid using Disk Management?)
2) Would the former (see question 1) be considered HW RAID and the latter (configuration using Disk Management) be considered SW RAID?
3) BIOS, as well as the motherboard RAID creation ROM software correctly shows that combined RAID 0 capacity as close to 6GB (ie., 2x 3GB), but Win8 Disk Management shows 2 disks of less than 1GB size each. (Note: This is before any kind of formatting and without even assigning drive letters yet.) Where did I go wrong?
Thanks in advance.
