Raid0 array with 2 samsung 960 evo 500gb m.2 ssds on asus hero 9 mobo

One m.2 is in the 2 slot and is my boot drive the second is formatted but has no data on it. Can I just follow the instructions in the mobo users manual to set up a raid0 array with out formatting my boot drive?

There is absolutely no need for RAID with SSD drives and you really wont get any performance from it.
