[SOLVED] RAID0 vs Optane

Hi, just looking for some advice. I've currently got a pair of 240Gb Sandisk Extreme Pro SSDs drives in a RAID0 configuration. I bought a 32Gb Intel Optane M2 SSD recently but have since learned that these cannot be used with drives in RAID0...

So I just wondered, which is better in terms of performance - the Optane plus one of the existing SSDs, or the current RAID0 setup without the Optane at all?

Optane cache makes sense on mechanical HDDs only. It provides minimal to zero benefit on SSDs.
RAID0 on SSDs also makes very little to no benefit.

If you want faster storage, then get upgrade to NVME (without RAID0).

The little Optanes were years past their prime even when new. (As stated above, they might have made a little sense in the days of normal SSDs costing $500 for 128 GB, etc..)

With low cost SSDs in both SATA and NVME now plentiful, they are even more useless, as they essentially waste a good NVME slot, of which many mainboards only have one or two in NVME flavor.

1. Optane on top of an SSD makes zero sense.
2. RAID 0 + SSD makes little sense. Benchmarks look great. User facing benefit...not so much.

Any recommendations for a solid NVME drive around 500GB?

Are these supported by ROG Maximus XI Hero?

Zero difference, apart from added complexity.
Using one fast storage space as a cache for a different fast storage space.

An optane module is only good if paired with a spinning hard drive, and only in certain use cases.
