MERGED QUESTION
Question from scotdoesstuf07 : "Is this OZC PSU any good for a first build?"

OCZ ZT is tier 5 on this list.

You can do better from a quality point of view.
tier1/2 is best, no worse than tier 3.
Seasonic is always good.

550w is likely OK for a card as good as a GTX1070/80

There is no need to open a thread for every PSU you are considering. You have a problem. You need to find a PSU. Stick to this thread for help in finding one. If everyone opened a thread for every possible part they were considering you'd never be able to do anything around here.

Here is another good PSU for $50. Not the greatest ever, but it should get the job done with no problems.

What's embarrassing is your poor advice. There are name brands(I think this was term you were looking for) with PSUs over $50 that are junk and there are good name brand PSUs available for less than $50.

Example of a poor >$50 PSU
$52 for a 500w Thermaltake TR2. Thermaltake is a well known name brand yet the TR2 is a steaming pile

Example of good < $50 PSU
$43 Corsair CX450. Corsair is a well known name brand and the newer CXs are decent power supplies.

Thermaltake TR2 W0388RU 600W is junk
Thermaltake TR2 TR-600P 600W is solid. Still don't class Thermaltake as a decent brand.
Also depending on what it was, yes what you say can be true. Look at mercedes, people buy them bad cars by the bucket load, so I get your point, but generally, you can do very very little research on the web, type in a PSU and get all the information you need.
The word - PSU <make> <model> review will bring up many websites that review PSUs

I was simply using the requirements from your post which was $50 and branded. You made no mention of age or quality. Maybe next time try not to generalize so much. Lets end this here before this thread gets derailed any further.
