Raite 8x/40x ...Worked...Now it won't read

I was listening to incubus last night, and this morning I put in a new cd everything seemed normal except when I didn't hear the damn thing spin up. The Busy light will keep on flashing and if I try to access the drive it says no disc.

I went through the regular routine... checked all the cables, start up files...

With no luck I'm stuck with a POS box illuminated by an annoying led.

Somebody please help...

Here is a little more information

I installed the firmware/driver files, config.sys and autoexec.bat have the proper lines in it and I've played around with the bios; but it still doesn't work.

Also I had a slave harddrive hooked up with this dvd-rom on the secondary ide controller(i've tried both primary and slave connectors of the IDE ribbon after removing the slave harddrive). - Don't know if that affects anything since it was my first time with a slave, but prior to taking the slave harddrive off it was in fine working order with out installing firmware/driver files.

Also I have tried setting up the dvd-rom as cable select, slave, and master; in many different ways on both the primary and secondary.

Yet another failed attempt...I removed the driver from the device manager, removed power and ribbon, restart, shutdown, replaced power and ribbon and cold booted. Nothing<P ID="edit"><FONT SIZE=-1><EM>Edited by aolsucksnet on 03/04/01 12:29 PM.</EM></FONT></P>
