So, i want to upgrade my laptops ram. Currently i have two 4gb 1600 mhz stick in there and while it is definitely enough for gaming, it in not enough for me to run adobe after affects without loads of lag (while having 2 other monitors open, three total). I either want to get 16gb of HyperX Impact SO-DIMM or 24gb. I have heard that 16 is all that is needed, but i thought, why not put as much ram in the pc as i could without removing the pre-installed sticks.

Is it really worth paying almost double?

And will i notice any performance difference between 16 and 24?

Also can i put two 4 gig sticks in with two 8 gig sticks (i mean is it even possible)?

Thanks!!!

Unless you are doing professional grade editing , there is no need to have more than 8gb for gaming or 16gb if you want to be EXTRA safe into the future. You will see no added benefits from adding more.
