Hey guys,

I have successfully switched my RAM on my desktop from base frequency to profile 1 which everybody says gives it a boost. It now says it's at 3200. I've seen some youtube videos where expert pc builders put their RAM even a bit higher, like 3400 to 3600. Should I try that, and if so, under which circumstances?

Thanks a lot.

Depending on what memory kit you bought, you may or may not be able to easily overclock to higher than 3466MT/s because of limitations of the CPU memory controller. Even at 3466 you won't see much extra performance in anything that doesn't require high memory speeds. I would just leave it at 3200 if it works fine.

what is you RAM rated at?
Mine is rated for 3000, I have not been able to get any faster out of it. if your RAM is rated at 3200, leave it at 3200. overclocking RAM beyond its rated spec can be a fair bit trickier than setting a profile in the BIOS. those guys probably have DDR4 4000 RAM and have some leeway to play with as the RAM is not running at or beyond spec.
