RAM 8GB - 16GB issue

Hello Everyone , i am having some issues getting my computer to Detect my RAM , i have tried swapping the slots over and checking they have been reseated correctly , am i doing something wrong here ?

I Have x2 8GB dual module RAM Sticks only 8GB of RAM is showing up when i have 16 GB in total ,

What motherboard do you have? Do both sticks work in all slots by themselves?

they should both be working because one i have been using on 8GB and the other one is brand new ,
