Ram 8GB and 16GB

Hi! I have a b85 g motherboard With 4 slots. I have 2x4GB ram but can I install 2x8 also? so the totall will be 24GB? all the ram are ddr3 from hyper x. or must i take out my 2x4?
 
Solution
Mixing memory can have mixed results. If you already have the memory, try it (as suggested). It may be just fine.

For best/optimal results, it is recommended to use matching memory.
It's best to check out compatible ram at a site such as mr memory or crucial
They scan your system components to figure out what is suitable for your computer
I've read that it's not usually a good idea to mix ram, even of the same capacity may not work together...buy kits (although I've only seen pairs, 4's may be a thing?)
 
In the systems I've built, the sticks in dual channel should match, not necessarily all the sticks. Example, A1 and A2 should match, B1 and B2 should also match, but A and B sticks don't have to match. So keep your 2x4 in matching slots, then put the 2x8 in the other slots and you should be fine. Make sure voltages and timings are the same though.
