Question RAM Alignment

I recently built my first PC with the following specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 1700x
GPU: EVGA RTX 2060
Motherboard: Asus Prime B450 Plus
RAM: Corsair Venegance LPX 16gb @3200mhz
PSU: Corsair 650W Bronze Certification
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB
Case: Corsair Carbide 275R

Would I cause any damage to my motherboard by aligning my RAM sticks differently than recommended? For example: having my RAM sticks in A1 and A2. I have attached a link to my motherboard manual (see pg. 19). https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/...PLUS/E14214_PRIME_B450-PLUS_UM_WEB_060418.pdf

Any help would be appreciated.

Your memory needs to be installed in the A2 and B2 slots in order for it to run in dual channel which doubles the bandwidth. You do not want to deviate from that for any reason really. Running in the A1 and A2 slot will incur a performance penalty due to the memory defaulting to single channel operation.

Why do you want to run the memory in the A1 and A2 slot?
