Ram amount for me

i am just a normal gamer who has some decent specs, but nothing over the top,i can run battlefield 4 on medium-low and i currently have 4bgs or ram, i am getting some more, but would another 8gb or ram be overkill, and would another 4gb do just for gaming with no other big tabs like photoshop open?

*GB would suffice for today - would suggest getting a 2x4GB set to ensure the 8GB will work then could try adding your old for a possible bonus, simply getting another 4 GB there's no guarantees it will even play with your current 4GB - even if you get the same exact model of DRAM
