Hi!

I am gonna buy a PC. My preferred processor is core i7-5820K. So, with that, I'll have to buy a LGA2011 v3 socket consisting motherboard and DDR4 RAM.

Now, from intel website, I see that the memory types supported by 5820K processor is DDR4 1333/1600/2133. So, shouldn't it mean that the highest RAM bus speed I can allocate with 5820K is 2133 MHz?

Help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That is not RAM bus speed, it is RAM frequency. No matter the RAM you get, the frequency will cap at 2133 MHz, so there is no point for 2400+ MHz. If you want stability, get 2400 MHz RAM and downclock it to 2133MHz. BTW, RAM frequency is not really important, you will not notice the difference between 1333MHz and 2133 MHz, unless rendering, and there will be 5% difference AT MOST, so get the best RAM based on price/GB and you are good to go. If you OC FSB, you may squeeze little bit out of your RAM, but PCI-E will lose stability, so do not do it, it is not worth it (unless you are on a competition xD). Hope I helped. 😉

BTW, why at hell is 5930K so much more expensive than 5820K!?

Come on, why does everybody need to stop my trolling??? :'( Fuck you all!!!

i have an asus x99-s, i7-5820k and 16gb of 2400MHz ram.
What i think it means is thats what will deffinatly run with the processor, when i got my build up and running it down-clocked my ram to 2133MHz, i think this will happen factory on any mobo/cpu, there are settings to set it to what you want/overclock really easy and no stability issues like previously mentioned
hope this helped
