Question Ram casing

Hi im looking at buying a pc and with having a little trouble with ram, is ram without casing the same as one with one? Like the crucial normal ram with no case or you can have the corsair vengeance

Casing? Are you referring to heatspreaders?

Heatspreaders are intended to radiate heat away from the chips, like a heatsink on a CPU.

They've become more of a fashion statement for those inclined. Like "Corsair Vengeance" rather than "Corsair Meek".
